Hathi is both the most iconic and the longest running Indian Restaurant on the Sunshine Coast. Established in 1992 by the de Silva brothers – Chris, Peter and Aldrin – Hathi soon became well known to locals across the Coast, as well as regular visitors to the area
After trading at its original site at Aerodrome Road for more than 17 years, Hathi moved to larger premises in February 2010. Diners now enjoy a view of the beautiful Alexandra Headland ocean and beach.
The use of the freshest spices, produce, meat and poultry available, preferably from local suppliers, ensures that the standard of food is of the highest level possible.
We have a large range of dishes available on our menu, from both North & South India. We also have an extensive vegetarian menu. The tantalising and delicious dishes prepared by our fantastic and dedicated Chefs allow you to enjoy an authentic Indian experience right here on the Sunshine Coast.
All our Chefs are sourced from overseas and specialise in both Southern & Northern styles of Indian cuisine, allowing you the customer to enjoy a more diverse Indian culinary experience. With extensive practical 5 Star experience, our group of Chefs are one of our greatest assets, with most having been with the business for over 5 years.
Our meals are offered as both dine in and takeaway and each curry is made to order to ensure you get your curry just the way you like it.
Hathi’s famous buffet / smorgasbord was initially introduced back when Indian was very new to the coast, as a way of allowing locals to sample a range of delights as an introduction to Indian. The buffet / smorgasbord proved so popular that it is still offered today from Thursday to Sunday for dinner.
